Scoring Big
Student work displayed for all to see
The far end our main athletic field was outfitted with a new scoreboard recently thanks in part to a donation from UniBank and the hard work of several of our vocational programs. From concept to completion, our students’ talents were put to work in replacing the old, weather-damaged scoreboard with a new, LED-lit version.
All hands were on deck for this project. Our Drafting & Design students created blueprints for the project that included space for the scoreboard, upper and lower signs showcasing UniBank and BVT, and our Beaver mascot perched on top. The Electrical students learned about underground electrical service as they wired the scoreboard and ensured it functioned properly. Our Advanced Manufacturing & Fabrication program produced and welded the frames for the UniBank and BVT signs. Once the frames were created, the Auto Collision & Repair students painted the background of the signs while the Painting & Design Technology students created and applied the lettering and the vinyl Beaver mascot.
A ribbon cutting ceremony at our Homecoming Festival on September 29th officially launched the scoreboard for student athletes, Beaver fans, and visitors. Our administration, School Committee, and members of the UniBank team, were there to thank all partners for their work on the project.
The fully functioning scoreboard and video board sat tall and proud as it displayed messages of gratitude, important reminders, and sports statistics for all to see. It will continue to be a source of information, and pride, for all who attend our sporting events for many years to come!
