Practical Nursing Program Earns Top Spot
PracticalNursing.org, an organization that promotes the growth of nursing professionals through education, recently ranked Blackstone Valley Tech’s Practical Nursing as the number one LPN program in the state of Massachusetts.
The ranking assessed 17 practical nursing programs in Massachusetts focusing on how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. The National Council Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) pass rates for the previous five years were analyzed and weighted by year. Blackstone Valley Tech received an overall score of 100 to secure the top spot.
“This is a tribute to the hard work and dedication from the faculty, staff, and our students,” said Practical Nursing Coordinator Joann Monks, MBA, MSc, RN-BV. RMA. “We believe in maintaining high standards in practical nursing education in order to meet the needs of the health care industry and our community.”
Valley Tech’s post-secondary Practical Nursing program was established in 2009 to help men and women make the leap into career pathways in nursing. To accommodate non-traditional students balancing personal and professional commitments, the program utilizes a non-traditional schedule: classes meet for six hours per night on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and one weekend per month. The program is completed in three 20-week terms for a total of 60 weeks in the program.
The graduates of the program have maintained stellar success on the NCLEX exam for Practical Nurses, and they have gone on to have rewarding careers in the healthcare industry.
The Blackstone Valley Tech Practical Nursing program proudly serves in district, out of district, and out of state learners. For more information, contact the Blackstone Valley Tech Practical Nursing program by email at PNP@valleytech.k12.ma.us or by phone at (508) 529-7758 x3122.
