Our Bayer Fund-Sponsored Team Wins

Team 61 – The Intimidators Earns Judges’ Award – April 1, 2024

Our robotics team, Team 61 – The Intimidators, is a proud grant recipient. Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer, awarded the team a one-time $3,000 grant to enhance their science, engineering, and team-building skills through participation in the FIRST Robotics competitions.

"As a Bayer Fund grant recipient, Team 61 is using the funds to participate in FIRST Robotics educational programs and competitions," said Robotics Team Advisor Michael Norton. "I am proud of our team of students who recently participated in the 2024 NE FIRST Western NE District Event in Springfield, MA, and took home the Judges’ Award.”

The Judges’ Award is a team attribute award that recognizes a team's success in developing strong partnerships with their community, recruiting members, fundraising, and outreach efforts to spread FIRST's mission. During the competition, the judging panel may decide that a team’s unique effort, performance, or dynamics merits this recognition.

“The FIRST Robotics program helps provide the necessary skills for young students to become STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) leaders,” said Bayer Fund President Al Mitchell. "Bayer Fund is proud to provide grants to student teams to encourage their development into future scientists, engineers, and computer programmers."

Bayer Fund has contributed over $34 million to STEM outreach efforts. The nonprofit continues to sponsor FIRST Robotics teams as part of its intentional support of programs that improve STEM education.
