Shaping the Future of Nursing

Wendy HarperF.A. Davis Nursing Scholarship Recipient Recognized – January 24, 2024

For those interested in pursuing a career in nursing, our Moonlight Program in Practical Nursing at BVT helps its graduates launch nursing careers at a time when professionally trained skilled nurses are in high demand.

Wendy Harper, a 58-year-old nursing student pursuing an LPN degree in our Moonlight Program, left her job as a software developer to become a nurse and care for others. She is the proud recipient of a $1,000 F.A. Davis Fall 2023 Nursing & Health Science Scholarship, which she will use to further her education and training.

F. A. Davis is an independent, family-owned publisher of educational solutions for the Nursing and Health Science professions. The company is dedicated to developing teaching and learning products that meet the needs of nursing and health science students, educators, and practitioners. Scholarship applicants had to be enrolled in an accredited program for the fall 2023 semester, a student in good standing with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Wendy said, "I am glad I enrolled in the PN program at BVT. I enjoy the instructors, class size, learning new things, and expanding my knowledge. As a graduate of this rigorous program, I can confidently pursue a rewarding career in nursing using my skills and training to make a difference in the lives of others."

Wendy graduated from the PN program in a pinning ceremony on January 22nd. She and her classmates look forward to shaping the future of nursing and embracing all the opportunities that the nursing field offers: well-trained, licensed, practical nurses.

The part-time evening program is now accepting applications. The affordable program offers small class sizes and accepts in-district, out-of-district, and out-of-state applicants. There is no waitlist, and the TEAS exam from other schools is accepted. For more information, visit
