Hands-on Projects
Clinical Experience: Translating classroom knowledge into practical experience is an essential step for our Health Services students. Through partnerships with area hospitals and healthcare facilities, including Milford Regional Medical Center and Westborough HealthCare, our students experience a variety of clinical environments. By participating in clinical rotations, our seniors practice their advanced care skills in acute care units such as cardiac and telemetry. In these controlled environments and under the supervision of instructors and hospital staff, they perform daily care functions such as range of motion, vital signs, transfers, and personal care for patients.
Health Education: One of the best ways to learn complex topics is to teach them to others. While preparing to explain a subject to another person, you get a more complete understanding of it. The Health Services program teams up with area senior centers to provide educational opportunities for both students and senior citizens. Our sophomores teach lessons about an assortment of health and wellness concerns such as diabetes, cardiovascular health, respiratory conditions, nutrition, wellness, and safety in the home. Through these presentations, our sophomores gain a greater comprehension of their studies and show compassion and empathy for others.
