Welcome to the Digital Learning Commons
Upon entering our Digital Learning Commons (DLC), you know it's more than just your typical library; it's a learning space where our students, teachers, and staff can gather to collaborate, meet, and study with shared technology and resources. Along with housing a large selection of fiction and nonfiction books, our DLC has dedicated staff members who run the Learning Lab and our Technology Department. You can also access online research databases and newspapers, and a collection of technology can be borrowed, including but not limited to laptops, projectors, televisions, and chargers.
The Technology Department
Our Technology Department is where you will go when you have questions or issues with your school-issued technology. Responsible for all operations, maintenance, and support for the district computers, network, and A/V systems, our dedicated technology team provides a solid technical foundation to support BVT's learning environment.
The Learning Lab
Our Learning Lab is a hub of student work and tutoring staffed by dedicated faculty members. Whether you need a book, want to explore our resources, or require assistance with a project, the Learning Lab is open every school day, providing valuable tools and resources for students throughout the school year. The Learning Lab offers all students:
- a quiet, cozy, space to study or complete assignments independently
- organizational assistance with goal setting, task prioritization, and time management
- access to printers, laminators, school supplies, and additional learning materials
- small group and make-up testing
- structured support with classwork and/or homework
- help with developing study skills, routines, and strategies as part of their daily routine
- the opportunity to practice self-advocacy
- a connection to the school network, Wi-Fi, and additional support from our Technology Department, where laptops and chargers can be borrowed in a pinch.
SCHEDULE A VISIT
If you need one-on-one support, you can alert a Learning Lab staff member by scheduling a session or you are welcome to stop by the DLC, which is open:
- Mondays – Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., when school is in session.
- Selected Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Make the Learning Lab a part of your daily routine. Students are welcome to visit before school (after 7:00 a.m.), during the school day (with a pass from their teacher or counselor), or after school (until 3:00 p.m.). If transportation home is an issue, there is a 3:15 late bus on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
