Maintaining Our Campus with Care & BVT Pride

Many of our graduates, over the years, have shared fond memories of learning to wield the tools of their trade through meaningful school assignments and completing various tasks throughout our campus and district towns. These experiences allow them to master their skills and create a professional portfolio while in high school. As educators, we’re thrilled to see our alumni utilizing their skills to enhance our school community and the world around them.

While we would be willing to travel far and wide to witness the life-changing impact of vocational education firsthand, we don’t have to go far to observe our skilled alumni in action. In preparing to highlight the collective efforts behind the maintenance of our facility, we couldn’t help but notice that many of the individuals who comprise our Facilities team are talented BVT grads who take immense pride in their education, their vocational training, and the care and upkeep of their former school.

It Takes a Village
As responsible stewards, we continue to mindfully address repairs, complete annual maintenance, and make necessary enhancements across our campus, utilizing cost-saving measures. Our summer projects progress with the assistance of in-house talent, student support, and grant funding, which helps reduce our costs while preserving and maintaining our aging but well-cared-for facility.

Our Facilities team possesses a broad range of skills and knowledge. With the guidance of Robert Dolegiewicz, Facilities Manager (Class of 2005), and his Administrative Secretary, Dawn Naff, the summer team ran like a well-oiled machine. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the staff, students, and retirees, who assisted the team with summer projects: Bella Baltramaitis, Jesse Bonati, John Bonati (Class of 1982), Cate Bouvier (Class of 2025), Tim Buono (Class of 2013), Tim Collins (Class of 1990), Joe Corriveau, Derek Dauphinee, Audrey Drons, John Festa, Michael Godowski (Class of 2014), Matt Lajoie (Class of 2004), Chris Lilly, Brian Lipsett (Class of 2008), Dana Lovejoy (Class of 1993), Madison Moore (Class of 2024), Ted Morin, Nicholas Patriarca, Dylan Peloquin (Class of 2012), Kyle Prince (Class of 2017), Gracey Reed, Doug Reynolds, Lincoln Shaw, Abigail Thompson, Nicholas Trudeau (Class of 2012), John Warren, and Randy White.

Students in our Painting & Design Technology (P&D) program, Audrey Drons of Bellingham and Abigail Thompson of Uxbridge, were happy to have an opportunity to utilize their vocational training to assist with various painting projects. They worked alongside Cate Bouvier of Uxbridge and Madison Moore of Millbury, under the guidance of P&D Instructor Tim Buono. Our summer painters prepared surfaces and applied paint to ensure a high-quality, durable finish. The role requires a keen eye for detail and knowledge of various painting techniques and materials to achieve the desired color and finish. Thanks to their labor, many classrooms, hallways, and offices have a fresh coat of paint and a modern look.

The Team Behind The Teams
From cleaning and basic maintenance to landscaping and assisting with the general upkeep and preparation of our school building and grounds, preparing for each school year is an immense undertaking that truly requires a team effort. When it comes to getting our athletic fields ready for the next season, maintenance and preparation tasks are essential.

Having worked as a laborer in the sports turf industry, Mr. Christopher Lilly brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for turf management to our facilities team. In his role as our Sports Field Specialist, he has consistently improved the quality of our athletic fields. Which is no small feat, given the number of our growing sports teams competing at a highly competitive level. Wearing many hats, Mr. Lilly connects with other groundskeepers about how they are managing their fields. He recently coordinated with our P&D program and supervised the students as they painted the football field goal posts. Thanks to his assistance, the goal posts have a vibrant coat of yellow paint, and the project went smoothly.

“I am grateful that we have assembled an incredible Facilities team, who join me in taking pride in all they do, but also care deeply about the school and its students,” said Mr. Dolegiewicz. “Our team has great morale, they do an outstanding job caring for and preserving our school building, ensuring it functions safely, efficiently, and reliably throughout every season.”
