You Have Questions, We Have Answers

Q:  Is there a minimum age requirement to participate in the BVTi adult programs?
A:  Yes. Individuals aged 18 and older are eligible to participate.

Q:  Where do I park?
A:  Parking spaces are available around the exterior of the building. Unless otherwise restricted by clearly marked signs, you may park in any available space. Parking in front of any shop door is prohibited.

Q:  Where do I enter the building on the first day of class?
A:  Enter through the main entrance of the school and look for a staff member of our adult education program or self-directed signage to guide you to class. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start of class.

Q:  Who is eligible for grant funding?
The grant funding awarded to BVTi will provide opportunities to eligible adult learners enrolled in one of the following programs: Advanced Manufacturing, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, or Welding. There are twenty seats in each program for eligible adult learners who qualify for tuition-free enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis.
A:  To be qualified for this tuition-free enrollment, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
  • Be 18 years of age or older when submitting their application or at completion of the program.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Show proof of Massachusetts residency.
  • Show proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Be currently unemployed, underemployed, or a recent high school graduate.

Q: Do you have a refund policy?
A: You will receive a 100% refund if we cancel a course or if the course is full at the time your payment is received. However, textbooks, course supplies, and materials are non-refundable. Please note that grant-funded students are NOT eligible for a refund.

Q: What happens if I have to withdraw?
A: If you withdraw five or more days before the course start date, you’ll receive a full refund minus a $10 processing fee. Less than five days before the start date, you’ll receive a 75% on-account credit. On or after the course start date (including one-night courses), NO refund or credit will be issued.

Q: What happens if I have on-account credits?
A: On-account credits can be applied to any course. They are non-transferable to other students. They do expire one year from the issue date. Note: Refund and withdrawal policies may differ for certain courses and do not apply to career, certificate, or license courses.

Q:  Do I need to bring any supplies to class?
A:
Yes, just a few. Please bring pens, pencils, and a notebook. All other supplies and materials are provided at no additional charge.

Q:  What if my class is canceled?
A:
Should a class be canceled due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the class will be rescheduled for that same day of the week, unless other arrangements are made between the instructor and students. When regular day school is canceled due to weather-related conditions or other emergency events, our adult evening classes will automatically be canceled.

Q:  How will I be notified of the cancellation?
A:
It is the student’s responsibility to stay informed of any class cancellations. To help in that effort, BVTi uses the following methods to notify students of any class cancellations:
  • BVT's website homepage banner
  • District Message: by calling 508–519–3790

Q:  Will I receive a certificate upon completion of the course?
A:
You can refer to our course list for each program.

Q:  Does my instructor have office hours?
A:
Yes. Our instructors will be available 30 minutes before each class.

Q:  Can I smoke on campus?
A:
 No! BVT's campus is smoke-free.

Q:  Are food or snacks available?
