Art Club

Calling all creative spirits, the Art Club seeks members passionate about art and design and inspired by color and form. Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in the art studio. The Art Club fosters a love of art and activism in our community with public murals, charity projects, and national competitions while encouraging growth in skill with technical workshops. It also helps students interested in applying to art school in their senior year with works of art for their portfolios. So come, join the Art Club, and form long-lasting friendships.

Aviation Club

Mentored by an FAA-licensed pilot and certified flight instructor, this club engages all aspects of the love of flight most students possess. Students have the opportunity to fly actual general aviation aircraft and participate in a week-long field trip to Florida to visit aviation-themed attractions unique to that state. Future career and post-secondary educational opportunities are also central goals of this club.

Band

Are you looking for a musical outlet? Our band is for students who can not participate in the regular school-day rehearsals or for musicians who wish to get more time practicing. During rehearsals, students use this time as an extension of regular band, which can include ensembles such as jazz groups, rock bands, or even instrument-specific groups. The club is open to all grades and talent levels! So, join the fun!

Book Club

Our book club is open to both staff and students. We meet at least once a term to discuss the club's latest book selection. Meetings are informal and are a great way to meet new people, read great books, and build school culture. Past selections have included "Internment" by Samira Ahmed, "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart, and "The Thursday Murder Club" by Richard Osman.

Chorus

So, if you are the type who loves to sing along to the radio or are inspired by melodies and musical tones, then our chorus is for you! Our chorus is made up of talented and dedicated students from all our grades. They practice and perform musical stylings that range from a cappella to choreographed competition songs, as well as accompanied pieces by the BVT band. Students perform at various school events, including two regular concerts in the winter and spring. There are no auditions to become a member of the chorus, all voices are welcome. Join us today and share your love for singing with our community.

Class Officers for Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Each class will have elections for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Historian. Class Officers are elected in the spring for the upcoming school year for the 12, 11, and 10th grades. Freshmen elections are held in late September. Students must complete a nomination paper and be approved by the administration prior to being placed on the ballot. Class Election Speeches are held one day prior to the election. In order to run for election to a student office, a student must be considered in good standing and must pass all subjects, have "good" conduct marks, and have a good attendance record. Must be available to attend meetings after school hours.

DECA (Distributive Clubs of America)

Drama

Students are immersed in an active and fun community of young actors and actresses. Each year, Drama performs a winter and spring production. Each production explores a different genre. Besides acting, there are other ways students can get involved: set design, marketing, costume design, makeup design…the list is endless. They've partnered with Alternatives in Whitinsville and utilize their theater space for every spring production. Each year, the Drama Club continues to grow and change with each new talent. Your voice will be heard, and your talent will be showcased.

First Robotics

Our First Robotics Team 61, The Intinimidators, participates in the FIRST Robotics Competitions, a national engineering contest that immerses high school students in the exciting world of engineering. Students get a hands-on, inside look at the engineering profession by meeting engineers from businesses and universities. Our Robotics team competes in a spirited, no-holds-barred tournament complete with referees, cheerleaders, and time clocks.

Friends of Rachel

Rachel's Challenge is a national non-profit organization dedicated to creating safe, connected school environments where learning and teaching are maximized. Based on the life and writing of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine tragedy in 1999, Rachel's Challenge provides a continual improvement process for schools designed to awaken the learner in every child. The goal is to motivate and equip students to start and sustain a chain reaction of kindness and compassion that transforms schools and communities.

Foreign Trips

Students travel abroad to experience unique learning opportunities and broaden their cultural awareness by amplifying the lessons taught in the classroom that enable hands-on, real-world experiences that open students’ minds and help them become more well-rounded. Locations are determined in advance and vary between Europe, The Dominican Republic,* and Asia. Trips are aligned with BVT’s educational mission of “…empowering each student to achieve a world-class education. * Trips to The Dominican Republic involve community service activities.

Gaming Club

The Gaming Club unites gamers from various backgrounds, allowing them to socialize and game in a safe environment. It is also designed to introduce new people to the world of gaming and introduce veteran gamers to new games and methods of play. We focus on board and card games and prohibit video games during this time. Popular games include Magic: The Gathering, HeroQuest, Dungeons and Dragons, Puerto Rico, Chess, Checkers/Drots, and Pokemon, particularly with regard to games that rely on and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

GSA

The Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) serves the LGBTQ+ community on campus and works to create an affirming, safe and inclusive environment for all students. The purpose of this organization is to foster a sense of community among students of all sexual orientations and gender identities. This organization offers a group that allows allies to join in the education of others. The organization will seek to promote understanding of the issues facing gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allied students on this campus.

Humanities Scholars

The Humanities Scholars program is a college preparatory club developed for highly motivated students from BVT, Uxbridge High School, Blackstone Millville Regional, Bellingham High School, and Milford High School. The program strives to expose students to local colleges and prepare students for the college application process. Club members spend three to four school days on local college campuses, where they are able to meet college-bound students from schools within the valley. Students also have the opportunity to tour the school, receive a presentation from each university’s admissions office, and engage in a discussion-based “master’s lecture” from a college professor. The topic of the lectures is based on a common theme that drives the program each year and allows students to learn about the topic from multiple perspectives.

LEO Club

Our Leo Club allows students to contribute to the community through leadership and community service activities and is also a place to grow and have fun. More than 144,000 young people in 139 countries are proud to serve others in their local communities and call themselves Leos. These young community leaders are friendly, active, and dedicated to creating new and exciting youth volunteer opportunities by participating in their local Leo clubs.

Model United Nations

The BVT Model UN Team introduces students to the concept of the Model United Nations and how it relates to all international events. As a member of this team, the goal is to understand international relationships and diplomacy as done through authentic simulation of the U.N. General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. In addition, develop the skills that are essential to fostering a better citizen. Each year, students attend at least one conference where they can engage in the processes of the UN and meet students from around the world.

Movie Club

Multicultural Club

The Multicultural Club aims to increase awareness of and appreciation of diversity on campus. Members sponsor programs to learn about and share different cultures. We conduct educational outings to learn about the diverse cultures of Massachusetts and worldwide. The organization will seek to promote understanding of different cultures, nationalities, ethnic groups, and languages of students on this campus.

National Honor Society & National Technical Honor Society

Programming Club

While multiple shops on campus touch upon programming topics, the Programming Club aims to expand and deepen its members' knowledge of programming and its different high-tech sectors. Club members have earned various programming certifications, including languages like C, C++, Python, and JavaScript. While these certifications have helped our Information Technology students find employment and develop practical skills that are useful in almost any industry, this club is open to all students interested in the tech industry and learning more about programming. By participating in competitions and competing for awards, club members will further develop their college and career portfolios while exploring tech, cybersecurity, machine learning, and networking.

Students for Environmental Action (SEA Club)

The Students for Environmental Action Club strives to educate our school community about different environmental issues on campus and around the world. The SEA Club sponsors campus-wide programs and initiatives that make BVT a greener school and increase awareness and sensitivity about our environment. Club members participate in recycling and compost initiatives, hiking trips, gardening, and holding large companies accountable for sustainable practices.

Ski & Snowboarding Club

BVT provides an opportunity for students to participate in six outings on Wachusett Mountain on Monday afternoons in January and February, as well as one or two Saturday trips to other ski locations in New England. Students choosing to participate in this organization must complete and submit an Athletic Registration Consent Form and an updated physical before the first Ski/Snowboarding outing.

SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving high school and college students and their instructors enrolled in trade, technical, and skilled service instructional programs, including allied health occupations. It is an applied method of preparing America's high-performance workers in public career and technical programs by providing quality educational experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. SkillsUSA programs include local, state, and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills.

Student Council

Student Council is an extracurricular activity for students that engages them in learning about leadership. The student council helps share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with the administration. They often run school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need, and school reform. For example, our council does food drives, fundraisers, pep rallies, and so much more. A student participating in the Student Council must be considered in good standing and must pass all subjects, have "good" conduct marks, and have a good attendance record. Must be available to attend meetings after school hours.

UNICEF Club

Yearbook

Responsible for producing the yearbook every school year. Duties of yearbook club members include • Providing photography coverage of various events throughout the school year, both within and outside of the normal school day • Designing the page layouts/theme • Managing content, including senior biographies, baby pictures, etc. Marketing and promotional activities, including yearbook sales, upcoming deadlines, and photo submissions.
