Meet Our Superintendent-Director
Anthony E. Steele II
Anthony E. Steele II began his career at Blackstone Valley Tech (BVT) in 1997 as an English teacher. It was an exciting and pivotal time as education reform challenged vocational schools to meet the MCAS standards.
Mr. Steele was named Assistant Principal/Director of Curriculum in 2001, helping to redefine what was possible in vocational education. He assumed the role of Assistant Superintendent-Director/Principal in 2012. He was a key player in transforming BVT from a strong, traditional vocational school to a nationally acclaimed career-technical center for the new era.
With nearly three decades of educational experience at BVT, Mr. Steele became the fourth Superintendent-Director in July 2025. He brings a unique blend of administrative experience, historical perspective, local knowledge, leadership style, and philosophy required for this leadership role.
Mr. Steele has also served on various state committees and held leadership positions in professional organizations throughout his career, including the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators and the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators Association. He appreciates the perspective gained from his longevity at BVT and is most proud of the school’s culture of high expectations, collegiality, and the resulting success of its graduates.
With a deep love for the written word, Mr. Steele is a prolific writer whose thought-provoking blog is a must-read. Check out a few of his most recent posts:
