    Drafting & Design Technology
Our two-year Drafting & Design Technology program is a rewarding challenge for students in their junior and senior year of high school who enjoy working in teams to solve complex, real-world problems in new and exciting ways. Students acquire a foundation in design and engineering disciplines through the introduction of mechanical and architectural drafting and engineering principles. Marketable skills are developed in computer-aided drafting (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) by training on state-of-the-art equipment and software. With a focus on mechanical design and product design processes, students will learn to take a product from concept drawing to prototype. This program provides students with many exciting opportunities for rewarding, entry-level employment and career advancement.

    Skills you will learn:
    • Mechanical drafting and design
    • Architectural drafting and design
    • Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
    • Computer-aided drafting (CAD)
    • Electro-mechanical drafting and design
    • Presentations and animations
    • 3D solid modeling
    • Civil drawings

    Hands-on Projects
Beach House Design: Let us design your dream home by the water! Our juniors’ favorite project is designing beachfront property using CAD (computerized architectural drafting) software while considering zoning and flooding regulations. These two-bedroom homes have state-of-the-art kitchens, beautiful dining rooms, cozy living rooms, parking for four cars, and serene outdoor living spaces. Interior and exterior fixtures are also considered to complete the look and functionality of the home. Once the design is complete, our students create both two-dimensional and three-dimensional renderings to showcase the final design.

Senior Capstone: In the final trimester, our seniors show off their knowledge, creativity, skill, and passion while completing the Senior Capstone project. Students can propose a project in any of the areas they’ve studied during their two years in the program: architectural, mechanical, and animation graphic design. Their projects may range from designing a drum set to a luxury home. Once their topic is approved, students will create a detailed CAD drawing of the object with full details of its size before preparing a three-dimensional model of the object to present to a board of evaluators.
