Scholarship: Stanley F. Stachura Memorial Sports Scholarships
Due Date: 5/14/2012

Criteria
For a graduating senior who participated in Valley Tech sports.
Award will be given to one male and one female applicant.

Student must return completed application to Counseling Office by May 14, 2012.


Scholarship: Chad A. Holbrook Memorial Citizenship Scholarship
Due Date: 5/14/2012
$Amount: $500

Criteria
Graduating senior planning to further his/her education or going to work in the trade learned at BVT.
Selection based on having represented the school well with a positive outlook during his/her time as an involved student at BVT.

Student must return application to Counsleing Office with one letter of recommendation by May 14.

Criteria
Graduating senior who has demonstrated unselfish concern for his/her teammates and others during his/her four-year participation in sports as a student athlete representing Valley Tech.

Scholarship: Gordon & Frances King Scholarship
Due Date: 6/6/2012
$Amount: 4 @ $2,500

Criteria
Student who will be enrolling in the four-year Urban Forestry program at the University of Massachusetts, or in the two-year Arboriculture/Park Management program at Stockbridge School of Agriculture.

Process
Student must complete application available in the Counseling Office and request two letters of recommendation to be sent under separate cover.
Request for transcript should be submitted by June 1 to meet the June 6 deadline.


Scholarship: Barbara Jones Memorial Scholarship
Due Date: 5/12/2012
$Amount: Various $300 - $500

Criteria
Graduating senior who will pursue a career in restaurant management, culinary arts, resort management, or related fields.

Process:
Student must complete application available in Counseling Office and submit it with official transcript and one letter of recommendation. Postmark deadline May 12, 2012
Request for transcript must be submitted to Counseling Office by May 9 to meet the May 12 postmark deadline.


Scholarship: Bellingham Business Association
Due Date: 5/1/2012
$Amount: 2 @ $1,500

Criteria
Graduating senior from BELLINGHAM who plans to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college.
Must plan to major in business or any other course of study that will lead to the ownership of your own business.
Selection based on an essay describing your career objectives, high school achievements, extra curricular activities, and community involvement.

Student must complete application and return it to the Counseling Office for an application number by April 27 to meet the May 1 deadline. A short typed essay must be attached.
Note: Application does not ask for student name in order to be reviewed anonymously. Student must provide name to Mrs. Smith in Counseling Office when returning application.


Scholarship: Town of Uxbridge Scholarship

Criteria
UXBRIDGE resident who plans to attend a post-secondary institution.
Selection based on financial need, character, scholastic record, and involvement in community work and/or extracurricular activities.
One letter of recommendation must be from an Uxbridge community member.

Student must complete application and return it to Counseling Office with two letters of reference and a one paragraph essay by May 2 to meet the May 4 deadline.


Scholarship: Vincent G. Palermo Memorial Scholarship

Criteria
PLUMBING student who plans to pursue a plumbing career or post-secondary studies.

Scholarship: Robert J. Watson Memorial Scholarship
Due Date: 5/11/2012
$Amount: $1,500

Criteria
Graduating senior who has been accepted into a post-secondary program and who received Title I Targeted Assistance services for at least one school year.
Any student who took a Reading course as an elective may be eligible. Please check with your counselor to confirm eligibility.

Process:
Student must complete application, including a 250-500 word essay and two letters of recommendation, and submit to the Counseling Office by May 7.
Counseling personnel will arrange for applications to be signed by Title I Director and Superintendent-Director Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick and mail to be received by the May 11 deadline.


Scholarship: AIA Central Massachusetts Scholarship
Due Date: 5/4/2012
$Amount: up to $1,000.00

Criteria
Graduating senior who plans to enroll in an ARCHITECTURE program at college.

Obtain Application:
Counseling Office

Process:
Student must complete application and submit it to be received by May 4, 2012 with a one-page essay, up to five samples of his/her work, a biography, and up to three letters of reference.
At least one letter of reference must be from a current teacher.


Scholarship: Al DeGeorge Brothers & Sons Trade Scholarship
Due Date: 5/11/2012
$Amount: $1,000

Criteria
Graduating senior who will be going into a trade.
Award may be used for tuition at a post-secondary institution or for tools to be used in the trade.
Recommendation of vocational instructor required.

Process
Student must complete application which is available in Counseling Office and have vocational instructor provide a confidential recommendation.
Application should be returned to Counseling Office by vocational instructor by May 11th.


Scholarship: Arno and Roberta Wagner Scholarship

Criteria
DOUGLAS resident who will be continuing education.
Award based on academic merit and financial need.

Student must complete application and submit it with an official transcript, a one-page essay, and one letter of reference.

Scholarship: Blackstone Valley Gardeners Scholarship

Criteria
Graduating senior, or current college student, pursuing a major in horticulture, botany, landscape design, forestry, environmental science, land management, or conservation.
Resident of any Blackstone Valley town.

Student must send a one-page letter/essay of application to the BVG Scholarship Committee by May 1st. Submit to: Kathy McCarthy, 34 Carpenter Rd., Whitinsville, MA 01588.

Scholarship: George L. Wood Post #5594 V.F.W. Scholarship

Criteria
Graduating senior from UPTON who will be attending a post-secondary institution and has financial need.

Process
Student must complete application available in Counseling Office, including a personal letter.
Application must be returned to Counseling Office by April 25, 2012 in order to meet the April 30 deadline for completion by the counselor.


Scholarship: Massachusetts Flower Growers' Association Scholarship

Criteria
Graduating senior who will major in floriculture, horticulture, or related agricultural sciences.

Student must complete application available in Counseling Office, including a brief essay and an official transcript.

Scholarship: Mendon Board of Health Allied Waste Services Good Citizenship Scholarship

Criteria
MENDON student who will attend a 2- or 4-year college and has displayed good citizenship qualities.

Scholarship: Milford Federal Savings & Loan Association Scholarship

Must have demonstrated financial need.
B average or better
Must be involved in school and community activities

Scholarship: PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarship
Due Date: 5/1/2012
$Amount: Various, up to $4,000

Criteria
Graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in the PLUMBING or HVAC&R field through an apprentice program, technical college or trade school, or a 4-year college or university.
Minimum GPA of 2.0 (C average)

Scholarship: Society of Women Engineers Scholarship

Criteria
Female graduating senior who will enroll in a bachelor's degree program in engineering or computer science.
Minimum GPA of 3.5 (approx. 90 average).
US Citizen or permanent legal resident.

Student must fill out and submit the on-line application. An official transcript, letter of acceptance showing acceptance into an engineering or computer science program, and two letters of recommendation must be mailed by May 15th.

GRAFTON resident who plans to study AGRICULTURE, BOTANY, FORESTRY, HORTICULTURE, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, or PLANT AND SOIL SCIENCES.

Scholarship: Imagine America Scholarship
Due Date: 12/31/2012
$Amount: $1,000

Criteria
Graduating senior who plans to attend one of the many listed technical or career schools on the Imagine America website.
2.5 GPA (approximate 80 average)
Should have financial need and demonstrated community service.

Scholarship: MetroWest Health Professions Scholarship

Criteria
Resident of BELLINGHAM, HOPEDALE, MENDON, oe MILFORD who will enroll in a nursing, medical, dental, or allied health program at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Criteria
UPTON resident who plans a career in a HEALTH CARE or CIVIL SERVICE field relating to the care of others.

Scholarship: EDSF Scholarships
Due Date: 5/1/2012
$Amount: Various - range from $1,000 to $5,000

Criteria
Students interested in a career within the COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING, GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS, or MARKETING fields who will attend college full-time in 2012.
Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (B average)
One application qualifies applicant for more than 40 different scholarship opportunities.

Criteria
Students planning an Automotive Technology career who plan to attend one of 8 qualifying colleges in MA, NH, NY and RI.
Qualifying schools include: Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, Hudson Valley CC, Lakes Region CC, Manchester CC, MassBay CC, Middlesex CC, Nashua CC, NE Institute of Technology, and Springfield Tech CC.

Scholarship: MassBay Community College President's Top Ten Scholarship

$Amount: Full tuition and fees

Criteria
Graduating senior who plans to attend MassBay Community College and is a MA resident.
Must be in top 10% of the class and/or have a 3.0 GPA (B+ average).

Student must submit two letters of recommendation, an official transcript, and a 500 word essay on a topic that has impacted his/her life by April 30th. Request for transcript must be submitted to Counseling Office by April 25.

Scholarship: Worcester County Veterans' Agent Association Scholarship
Due Date: 5/1/2012
$Amount: $500

Criteria
Graduating senior who is a child or grandchild of a veteran, and who plans to further education.

Criteria
For a graduating senior who is planning to attend a four-year college.
Selection will be based upon character, school or community activities, financial need, and academic performance.

Scholarship: National Association of Women in Construction Scholarship
Due Date: 4/30/2012
$Amount: Variable

Criteria
Student planning to enroll in a construction-related program at a college or technical school, or planning to work in a construction oriented apprenticeship program.
This award is open to both MALES and FEMALES.

Criteria
BELLINGHAM or MENDON resident who will be continuing his/her education and has demonstrated interest in Mass Communications.

Scholarship: National Restaurant Association Scholarship

Criteria
Graduating senior who plans to enroll in an accredited culinary school, college, or university to major in culinary, restaurant management, or other foodservice related major.
Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.A and have at least 250 hours of paid or volunteer foodservice work experience.

Must have a family income of $59,360 or less.

Scholarship: Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship
Due Date: 5/1/2012
$Amount: Ranges from $3,000 to $10,000 yearly renewable

Criteria
Seniors who plan to attend college and have demonstrated financial need.
Must display academic excellence, a desire to help others, good character, and a strong work ethic.
Part-time work experience.
US Citizen or resident alien.
GPA of 3.0 or higher (B average)

Process
Visit website for detailed information and to download application. One long and two short essays and financial information are required. Student will also need to complete the on-line registration.
Mail application with official transcript, Guidance Evaluation Form, letters of recommendation, FAFSA Student Aid Report, Financial Aid Award Letter from the college attending, and student's and parents' 2011 IRS 1040 tax forms.
